Google had launched Google Sites, a new powerful addition to its application platform, this will definitely help business collaboration to a new level.
Google Site may be act as a replacement to Microsoft SharePoint, because it’s allowing businesses to collaborate without all that expensive Microsoft software
As per google, Google Sites, a new offering from Google Apps, makes creating a team site as easy as editing a document. Use Google Sites to centralize all types of information -- from videos to presentations -- and share your site with just a few people, your entire organization, or the world.
Google offers templates, a rich-text editor, 10GB of storage for each Google Apps account and integration with other Google services so you can embed gadgets, calendars, spreadsheets, presentations, photo slideshows and videos. You can invite people to collaborate or just view a site and you can also publish the site so that anyone can view it.
Google acquired JotSpot in November of 2006. Google Sites replaces Google’s Page Creator, which was an online tool more focused on creating single web pages rather than entire sites. Google shares JotSpot's vision for helping people collaborate, share and work together online. JotSpot's team and technology are a strong fit with existing Google products like Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Google Apps for Your Domain and Google Groups.
Google Sites is a natural extension of the Google Apps suite of business apps, into which Google currently bundles Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and other collaboration and productivity services.
The new service is enabled by default for all the new Google Apps accounts, but administrators need to enable it explicitly for the existing accounts.
